Syria: Shouting Valley — 2/28

SYRIA · APRIL 2003

The Golan is a thorny issue in the ongoing Mideast peace process. Since The 6 Days War in 1967, Madjal Shams, with its 11,000 residents, is the largest Israeli-occupied town in the Golan. The inhabitants are barred by Israel from crossing the border and without mail or phone access to relatives. So For many the only means of communication became the megaphone.
